Richard Eteson sang as a chorister and later a choral scholar at King's College, Cambridge. Whilst Head Chorister in his final term in 1988 he performed the solo verse of the carol Once in Royal David's City opening the world-famous carol service to a radio and TV audience of millions, and recorded the solo Pie Jesu on the choir's Fauré Requiem EMI CD release of that year. Returning in 1994 as a tenor, he repeated both feats, singing the solos in Darke's In the Bleak Mindwinter and on the Rachmaninov Vespers EMI CD. Since leaving Cambridge, Richard has sung tenor in many of London's finest choirs and vocal ensembles including Polyphony, Magnificat, Collegium Musicum 90, Opus Anglicanum, The Cambridge Scholars, Close Encounters, and since April 2000 The Swingle Singers (www.swinglesingers.com), and has made frequent concerts in the UK as a tenor soloist in Oratorio. He has made numerous recordings and TV appearances and his demanding travelling schedule has taken him to perform in some of the world's leading venues such as The Sydney Opera House, Australia, La Scala, Milan, The Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, Suntory Hall, Tokyo, the Esplanade Centre, Singapore and the Terme di Caracalle, Rome. Richard features on the following TONUS PEREGRINUS recordings: The Naxos Book of Carols, Léonin, Pérotin: Sacred Music from Notre-Dame Cathedral, Dunstable: Sweet Harmony, Adam de la Halle: Le Jeu de Robin et Marion, and Gibbons/Pitts/L'Estrange: Hymns and Songs of the Church.
