"What is truth?" (P.Pilate, Jerusalem, c.33AD)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
my final two programmes for the BBC as a member of staff...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
SUNDAY 6 MARCH 1pm-6pm (1300-1800GMT) *One Equal Music?*
on BBC Radio 3 (90-93 FM in the UK) and live on the web at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio3.shtml.
The many voices of world music are linked by common human
experiences - from the wandering tones of the Bedu to the distant
island choirs of the Pacific. Andrew McGregor hosts a virtual
roundtable with Ian Anderson and Ben Mandelson, telling the
story
of the genre latterly known as World Music. Meanwhile, familiar
Radio 3 voices explore unfamiliar traditions, and Lucy Duran
makes a grand salad in the studio with the AfroCelts. Including
at approximately:
1.00pm Birth-music & the rhythms of family life - finding
an
audience with Ali Farka Toure, Njane Mugambi, and a trail in
Kenya.
2.00pm Working songs & table music - nurturing a brand with
Charlie Gillett, Bill Badley, and Catherine Guilyardi's French
connection.
3.00pm Lovers laments & wedding grooves - crossing
the borders
with Peter Gabriel, Robin Denselow, plus a Beginners Guide
to
Indian Concerts.
4.20pm Courtly music & protest songs - dressing the mix
with
Clotaire K, Errolyn Wallen, and klezmer in the brave new world
order.
5.20pm Music over the horizon - stepping out of the box with
Stella Chiweshe, Ailu Gaup, and sounds from the edge of the
world.
Special features by Elizabeth Arno, James Birtwistle, Philip
Mattison, Francesca Panetta, Benedict Warren and Sylvie Wright.
Devised and produced by Hélène Rammant and Antony
Pitts.

GOOD FRIDAY 25 MARCH 2pm-4pm (1400-1600GMT) *A Passion 4 Radio*
on BBC Radio 3 (90-93 FM in the UK) and live on the web at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio3.shtml.
According to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the death of Yeshua
from Nazareth was good news. Ever since, the story of those
final 24 hours has inspired some of the finest art and music
of
the last two thousand years. A new harmonization by Antony Pitts
of the four Gospel narratives is interleaved with commentary
and
interviews from Jerusalem, London and Manchester by Christopher
Cook, Geoffrey Smith, Jeremy Summerly and Alan Walker.
2.00pm Tradition - "This is my body..."
2.30pm Betrayal - "Before the cock crows..."
3.00pm Justice - "It is as you say..."
3.30pm Execution - "It is finished."
(this is a revised repeat with Passion texts online at:
